Our Mission

THE MISSION OF FOWLERVILLE UNITED BRETHREN IN CHRIST CHURCH IS TO OBEY CHRIST BY BUILDING EVERYDAY DISCIPLES WHO LOVE GOD AND LOVE PEOPLE!

Our Mission Statement is developed from Jesus' teaching:

The Great Commandment in Matthew 22:37-40
Jesus replied "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love you neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

The Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Our Vision

Our vision is that we would be a community where people experience authentic relationships and find hope and freedom in Jesus Christ.

  •  We will pursue this by actively engaging in making a commitment to the Bible, prayer and personal spiritual development.
  • We will pursue this by attracting and embracing people of every generation, background and economic status.
  • We will pursue this as we seek to reach out through compassion, resources and people into our community and world.
  • We will pursue this as we seek to serve as a spiritual hub of our greater community.

Now glory be to God who by His mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of — infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.” Ephesians 3:20 (TLB)

Becoming an Everyday Disciple

We believe that God has called us to walk, talk, live, act as Jesus did. He was and is our example of what God looks for in our lives. Our desire is that we would pursue the call to be an Everyday Disciple of Christ.

Character — We are to become like Jesus. This means allowing God to reproduce His character within us.

Relationships —We are called to share life in a biblical community, that is built on healthy relationships that have Jesus at the center. When we are in Christ, we are a part of God’s family.

Opportunities —Every aspect of life gives us opportunities to share the life we have in Jesus with others. We have been entrusted with the good news of the gospel. Because of God’s love in us, we are to flow out into those around us.

Shape —God shapes us through our Spiritual gifts, our Heart (passions), our Abilities, our Personality, and our Experiences to fulfill His purpose for us. God has uniquely wired and gifted each one of us to complement and bring stability and growth to His family.

Surrender — This is another word for Worship. All of life is an act of yielding to and enjoying our love relationship with God. When the Holy Spirit is working in us and through us, we are filled with an overflowing willingness to surrender.
